How to Play Teen Patti: Easy Rules for Beginners

Teen Patti is played with three cards per person. Everyone puts chips into the pot, gets three face-down cards and then decides whether to keep playing or pack (fold). If the round reaches a final comparison, the stronger hand wins. If everyone else packs, the last player wins without showing cards.

New to the game? Start with the card rankings and a few common words: Blind, Seen, Chaal, Pack and Show.

How Does a Round of Teen Patti Work?

Imagine four friends playing a casual round with virtual chips. Here is what happens.

  1. Everyone adds the boot. If each player puts in 10 chips, the pot starts at 40 chips.
  2. Each player gets three cards. The cards are dealt face down.
  3. Players make their choice. You can play without looking at the cards (Blind), look at them (Seen), continue according to the table's stake rules or Pack.
  4. The round continues. Players who stay in follow the table's chip requirements.
  5. Someone wins. The last remaining player takes the pot if others pack; otherwise, eligible players compare hands at Show.

Specific stake amounts and Show rules can differ between tables and apps. Check the rules in the version you're using.

Teen Patti Card Rankings: Strongest to Weakest

This is the part worth remembering. A pair might look good, but it still loses to a Color in standard Teen Patti.

RankHandExampleWhat it means
1Trail / TrioA♠ A♥ A♦Three cards of the same rank
2Pure Sequence7♥ 8♥ 9♥Three in order, same suit
3Sequence5♠ 6♥ 7♦Three in order, different suits
4ColorA♣ J♣ 7♣Three of the same suit, not in order
5PairK♠ K♦ 4♥Two of the same rank
6High CardA♠ J♥ 8♣None of the combinations above

Quick example: If one player has K-K-4 and another has three hearts (A-J-7), the second player wins because Color ranks above Pair.

Some tables use different rules for Ace sequences and ties. Read their rules before playing.

What Do Blind, Seen, Chaal and Pack Mean?

WordSimple meaning
BootChips added by everyone before the round
BlindPlaying without seeing your three cards
SeenPlaying after looking at your cards
ChaalContinuing by adding the required chips
PackLeaving the round
ShowComparing hands to decide the winner
Side ShowA requested comparison between players, where permitted
PotAll chips collected during the round

Blind doesn't give you stronger cards. It only means you haven't looked at your hand. The chip amounts for Blind and Seen players depend on table rules.

Three Mistakes Beginners Make

Mixing up Color and Pure Sequence

Three cards from the same suit make Color. If they are also in order, they make a Pure Sequence, which is stronger.

Thinking a Pair beats a Sequence

It doesn't. In standard Teen Patti, Sequence is higher than Color and Pair.

Skipping the table rules

Online versions may change chip limits, Side Show rules and game variations. Learn the standard game first, then try special modes.

Playing Teen Patti on Android

The Teen Patti Gold homepage describes online tables, private rooms and several card game modes. The exact options can differ by app version. If you're new, look for the standard Teen Patti table rather than starting with Joker or Muflis.

Need help with the phone setup first? Read how to install Teen Patti Gold APK on Android. If the game installs but won't launch, see Teen Patti Gold not opening on Android.

About virtual chips: Virtual chips should not be assumed to have real cash value. Check the actual app provider's terms before purchasing anything.

Common Questions

How many cards do you get in Teen Patti?

Three cards per player. The standard game uses a 52-card deck without jokers.

Which hand is the strongest?

Trail is the strongest standard hand. Three Aces are the highest Trail.

Can I win without showing my cards?

Yes. If everyone else packs, the one player still in the round wins the pot.

Is Blind better than Seen?

Not automatically. Blind means playing without checking your cards. Neither option changes which cards you receive.

Can I play on my Android phone?

Yes, if you have a compatible card game app. Check the publisher and installation source before installing an APK.
